The ACT website is developed by ACT in cooperation with MS Tanzania. As part of the democracy focus in MS Tanzanias Country Programme Strategy, and after several requests from local partners, MS Tanzania has assisted a growing number of local organisations developing more transparency by using their websites in a more active manner. The process has been to take the responsibility of managing the websites away from private companies (typically the ISP) and give it back to the organisations. Through training MS has introduced systems for updating sites without prior knowledge of IT, html or web management. The software used is Joomla, a free, open source content management system. Joomla is used globally and supported by numerous foras online. It is module based and template based, which makes it easy to mold the system and the design to fit the particular needs of a given organisation.
